Our historic sandstone farmhouse, dating back to the late 1800s, has been lovingly restored and expanded into a modern and comfortable guesthouse.

Hiking Trails:

IMLA Guest Farm offers a network of hiking trails that cater to all fitness levels, from leisurely strolls to challenging hikes. Here are a few of the popular trails:

The Porcupine Trail:

  • Distance: 6km, 10km, or 16km
  • Description: This trail starts from the guesthouse and circles around and over Marabeng. The longer 16km route offers stunning views and challenging terrain.

The Kirklington Trail:

  • Distance: 30km
  • Description: This trail starts at the guesthouse, traverses Marabeng, circles around Kirklington, and returns to the guesthouse.

The Bushman Trail:

  • Distance: 20km
  • Description: This trail takes you from the guesthouse across the plains to Goewerneurskop, where you can admire ancient Bushman paintings. The trail ends at a refreshing swimming pool, and a vehicle is provided for the return trip.

About the area

Clocolan, officially renamed Hlohlolwane, is a small town in the Free State Province of South Africa. It's situated on the grasslands at the foot of the Hlohlowane Mountain, about 36 km from Ficksburg on the R26.

  • History: The town was established in 1906 and obtained municipal status in 1910. It was originally named after the Sotho word "Hlohlowane," meaning "stand up and fight," but the name was mispronounced by newcomers.  
  • Agriculture: The area is known for its agriculture, particularly asparagus, wheat, maize, potatoes, and cattle farming. It's also a significant producer of sunflowers and cherries.
