About The Waterfall Trail, Maliba Lodge

The Waterfall Trail at Maliba Lodge is a challenging yet rewarding hike that takes you through diverse landscapes and culminates in the breathtaking Maletsunyane Falls.

The trail begins at Maliba Lodge. From there, you'll descend towards the Lower Trail, but instead of turning left, you'll veer right towards the River Chalets and the river pool. After crossing the river and passing through Gate #8, you'll enter a dense forest.

As you traverse the forest, keep an eye out for wildlife such as bushbuck, owls, and eland. The path is well-defined but can be muddy or slippery in certain sections. The final stretch of the trail is the most challenging, involving a steep climb through the valley. The path can be overgrown in some areas, and the exposed granite sections can be slippery, especially when wet.

After a strenuous ascent, you'll be rewarded with the waterfall.
