A Challenging Adventure in the Richtersveld
Day 1: Arrival at De Hoop
Arrive at De Hoop campsite.
Relax by the river and enjoy dinner as the mountains change color at sunset.
Overnight at De Hoop.
Day 2: Tattasberg Viewing Point (21km)
Bush Camp: All equipment is transported.
Shower: Use a 2-liter ice cream container.
Route: Jeep track, approximately 12km near the Orange River, then south.
Climb: Approximately 300m over 9km.
Hike: Past the old diamond mine prospecting ditch and up a wide kloof to Tattasberg viewing point.
Overnight: Camp among granite boulders with stunning sunset and sunrise views.
Day 3: Kokerboomkloof (12km, 6-9 hours)
Flushing Toilets: All equipment is transported.
Shower: Use a 2-liter ice cream container.
No Road: Climb boulders and hike through an open kloof.
Tattasberg: Hike as high as safely possible.
Peak: Enjoy breathtaking views and explore massive granite boulders.
Registry: Hike to the triangle beacon (1.5km) and sign the registry.
Descent: Carefully descend down the mountain, passing quiver trees.
Day 4: Richtersberg Camp (15km)
Cold Showers and Flushing Toilets
Undiscovered Kloof: Hike in the riverbed and down waterfalls twice (10km each).
Jeep Track: Last 7km is a jeep track near the Orange River.
Day 5: Return to De Hoop (10km+)
Option 1: Hike directly back to De Hoop (10km).
Option 2: Hike 2km into the Abiekwarivier's 4x4 route, explore unique cliffs, and return to De Hoop (total 24km).
Relax: Enjoy a gathering around the fire by the river.
Day 6: Departure
Sleep at De Hoop: Tour guide accompanies everyone out.
Breakfast and Farewell: Say goodbye until next time.
