Meerkat National Park is unlike an ordinary visitor national park. It forms part of the radio-quiet landscape around the Square Kilometre Array project in the Karoo and has a conservation role alongside major astronomy infrastructure. The name can sound like an invitation to a wildlife outing, but its primary character is protected land supporting science, carefully managed access and low radio interference.
