Hike Directions

Kloof Trail (KLT)

  • Distance: 6.5km (loop)
  • Time: 1.5-3 hours
  • Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
  • Nearest Lodges: Stone House, Bush Camp, Thabeng
  • Description: Experience Lindani's diverse terrain! This trail blends riverside walks, gorge exploration, and open rock sections. Enjoy a mostly gradual gradient suitable for various fitness levels. A 2km river section overlaps with the Koperspruit Trail.

Koperspruit Trail (KPT)

  • Distance: 8.0km (loop)
  • Time: 2-3 hours
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Nearest Lodges: Stone House, The Loft, Thabeng, Motseng, Alden Cottage
  • Description: Discover stunning scenery and varied terrain. While mostly easy, expect one steep, rocky climb. Pay attention to KPT signs as it shares a section with the Kloof Trail. Breathtaking views await!

Mountain Trail (MTT)

  • Distance: 11.3km (loop)
  • Time: 2-4 hours
  • Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult
  • Nearest Lodges: Maroela, Molope, Bush Camp, Skebenga
  • Description: A scenic and challenging trail with rocky terrain, featuring a 360-degree lookout. Optional loops include the Big Tree & Burnt Rocks Loop (1km) and the Rock Table Loop (600m), showcasing Lindani's unique topography. Expect steep ascents/descents, though the gradient is mostly gradual. A 6km shortcut via Yellowwood Gorge is available. Carry water and food, and start early in summer.

Melkrivier Trail (MRT)

  • Distance: 10.2km (loop)
  • Time: 2-4 hours
  • Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult
  • Nearest Lodges: Motseng, The Loft, Alden Cottage, Thabeng, Stone House
  • Description: This demanding trail traverses diverse landscapes, including steep gorges, rocky climbs, and gentle paths. Enjoy spectacular views and unique rock formations. A 7km shortcut is available. Carry ample water and start early during summer.

Shorter Trails

Aardvark Trail

  • Distance: 650m (out and back)
  • Time: 20-30 minutes
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Nearest Lodges: Maroela, Bush Camp, Molope, Stone House
  • Description: A gentle woodland walk located above Maroela lodge. Combine with the Mountain Trail Rock Table Loop for a longer hike.

Mountain Trail Rock Table Loop

  • Distance: 850m (out and back)
  • Time: 30-40 minutes
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Nearest Lodges: Maroela, Bush Camp, Molope, Stone House
  • Description: A short loop off the Mountain Trail with rocky sections and woodland. Accessible via the 4x4 road between Maroela and Bush Camp. Combine with the Aardvark Trail for a longer hike.

Tree Walk

  • Distance: 1km (out and back)
  • Time: 30-40 minutes
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Nearest Lodges: Stone House, Thabeng
  • Description: An educational walk designed for tree identification. Numbered trees on the outward journey correspond to a provided list. Return with a quiz, identifying trees marked with question marks.
