Game drives for the Big Five take place in Welgevonden with a guide. This is not a limitation; it allows the wildlife area to remain private and carefully managed while visitors travel with someone who understands the terrain and animal behaviour. Commercial guests should not expect self-driving in Welgevonden.
Look beyond the Big Five
The Waterberg’s beauty lies in its wooded slopes, grass, clear air, birds and the rhythm of a day outdoors. In the Kololo area, giraffe, kudu, impala, bushbuck, blesbok and other non-dangerous game can make a trail engaging even without a headline sighting. Give every animal space and do not feed or approach it.
A Child-Friendly Safari, Still with Rules
Kololo’s division between the activity area and guided Big Five reserve makes it attractive for families, but children still need close supervision. Cycling speed, pool use, game drives, walks and wildlife viewing all follow the lodge’s current rules. Match the day’s route to the youngest and least experienced person in the group.
