Waterberg Woodland around a Family Dam
Doorndraai Dam Nature Reserve is a roughly 7,000-hectare Waterberg reserve between Mokopane and Mookgophong, built around the Doorndraai Dam and its varied woodland. Acacia, broad-leaved hillside and riverine habitats create a practical all-round destination for camping, birding, fishing, wildlife watching and appropriately managed time on the water.
The Dam is Part of a Larger Landscape
It is easy to see Doorndraai only as a fishing dam, but the surrounding reserve adds slope, bush, riverine vegetation and wildlife habitat. Spend time away from the water as well: a slow self-drive or approved walk can reveal how the land around a dam supports different birds and animals from the open shoreline.
Woodland Wildlife

Fishing and Water Activities
Fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking are listed activities, but water level, wind, launch access, permits and safety rules must all be current. Use an approved launch point, wear a lifejacket in a craft, avoid storms and keep clear of wildlife at the bank. Swimming-pool and picnic facilities may exist, but should be confirmed with the resort before a group visit.
Hiking, Cycling and Self-Drive

Choose only routes staff confirm as open, carry water and sun protection, and do not turn a game-viewing road into an unplanned long hike. A marked trail, 4x4 route and ordinary tourist road each have different conditions and users.

Those facilities are helpful, but availability and the condition of water, power, ablutions and access need confirmation at the time of booking.
