Midmar Dam and Nature Reserve is a KwaZulu-Natal Midlands destination where open water, rolling grassland and accessible recreation meet. The dam is the centrepiece for sailing, paddling, fishing and other authorised water activities, while the surrounding reserve provides birding, picnic areas and the chance to see plains game such as zebra, impala, blesbok, reedbuck and oribi. It is a family-friendly nature outing, not a wilderness hiking reserve.
