Kloofendal Nature Reserve is a 128-hectare cultural-heritage and ecotourism reserve in the Roodepoort suburb of Kloofendal. It offers a rare urban combination: a practical place for a walk, picnic or environmental outing, together with geological interest and reminders of Johannesburg’s earliest gold-mining history. Its natural environment lies in a transition zone between Bankenveld, Drakensberg and Savanna ecosystems, giving the reserve more ecological variety than its city setting suggests.
