The Leisurely Hiker shares honest, accessible route notes for walkers who value clear expectations, manageable distances and the reward of a view reached at their own pace.
My hiking companion is an optimist — the kind who looks at a map and says "I know you can do it." After enough experiences of discovering that a 6 km route was 6 km to the destination and at least 8 km back, I learned to ask more questions before agreeing to anything.
So this is my pledge: I will tell you what to expect. If there are steep sections I will say so, and I mean both the climbs and the descents, because both take effort. I hike because I value time in nature, the quiet of a trail away from everything, and the genuine satisfaction of reaching a view I was not sure I would get to. I just want to know what I signed up for before I set out — and I assume you do too.
