A Coastal Paradise with Diverse Accommodation

Tsitsikamma, meaning "place of much water," within the Garden Route National Park, is a stunning coastal region where the powerful Indian Ocean meets rocky shores, lush forests, and deep ravines. The park offers two distinct rest camps, each with its own unique appeal: Storms River Mouth Rest Camp and De Vasselot Rest Camp in Natures Valley.

Storms River Mouth Rest Camp: Accommodation and Activities

Located approximately 615 kilometers from Cape Town, 195 kilometers from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and 68 kilometers from Plettenberg Bay, the Storms River Mouth Rest Camp provides a range of accommodation options. Guests can choose from:

  • Well-placed Oceanettes
  • Open-plan chalets
  • Family cottages
  • Forest huts
  • A standalone honeymoon cottage

All accommodations feature living rooms and fully equipped, self-catering kitchens, catering to various budgets and preferences.

The camp offers access to breathtaking seascapes, dense indigenous forests, well-maintained walking and hiking trails, suspension bridges, and boat trips.

Natural Wonders and Wildlife

The park extends five kilometers into the ocean, protecting a vibrant marine ecosystem. Dolphins can be seen playing in the waves, and southern right whales visit the coast to breed. The endangered African black oystercatcher nests along the rocky shores, and Knysna loeries are common sightings in the forests. Shy Cape clawless otters hunt along the coastline, and blue duiker and bushbuck can occasionally be spotted.

Tsitsikamma offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty of South Africa's Garden Route, combining stunning coastal scenery with diverse wildlife and comfortable accommodation options.
