SANParks Addo Nyathi Rest Camp

Imagine sipping a refreshing drink as elephants and buffalo gather at a nearby waterhole, the breathtaking sunset over a majestic South African mountain range painting the sky behind them. This is the unforgettable experience that awaits you at SANParks Addo Nyathi Rest Camp.

Secluded Self-Catering Accommodation:

Nestled at the foot of the Zuurberg Mountains, amidst rolling hills, Addo Nyathi Rest Camp offers secluded self-catering accommodations. Fittingly named "buffalo," sightings of these magnificent creatures are a common occurrence. A leisurely drive through the Big Five Nyathi section of Addo may also reward you with glimpses of lions or the elusive leopard. Just 12 kilometers from the main camp, Nyathi provides a tranquil escape into the heart of nature.

Accommodation with a View:

The camp boasts 11 self-catering units: eight designed for two guests, one accommodating four guests, and two spacious family units that can sleep six each. Built on stilts overlooking a floodplain, each unit offers spectacular views from the bedrooms, lounges, and even some bathrooms, thanks to expansive glass panels that seamlessly blend the indoors with the stunning natural surroundings.

African-Inspired Design:

The architecture of the units reflects the traditional African dome-styled and thatched homes of the region, creating an authentic and immersive atmosphere. The interior décor draws inspiration from the distinctive round leaves of the abundant spekboom, while copper pipes and taps add a touch of rustic charm, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

Wildlife Encounters:

The seasonal river that flows beneath the camp attracts a diverse array of wildlife, including baboons, kudu, warthogs, and, naturally, elephants. The camp's location provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing right from your accommodation.

Relaxed Wildlife Viewing:

For an even more relaxed wildlife viewing experience, a waterhole within the small camp is easily accessible on foot. With frequent visits from a variety of game and bird species, Nyathi Rest Camp offers an ideal secluded retreat within Addo Elephant National Park, perfect for those seeking a tranquil and immersive nature experience.
