Glen Harry Game Reserve

Glen Harry Game Reserve

Established in 2010, Glen Harry Game Reserve offers a tranquil and serene escape amidst the awe-inspiring scenery and landscapes of the malaria-free Eastern Cape, near Graaff-Reinet. This beautiful reserve provides a truly immersive experience in the heart of the Karoo.

Accommodation:

Glen Harry offers a choice of accommodation options:

  • Lapa Cottages: Four privately located Lapa Cottages offer magnificent, uninterrupted views of the reserve, with wildlife roaming freely nearby. It's not uncommon to find the tracks of a herd of eland outside your door in the morning, a testament to their nocturnal wanderings. Each Lapa Cottage features two single beds (convertible to a king-size bed upon request), an en-suite shower, toilet, and washbasin, air-conditioning, a kitchenette with tea- and coffee-making facilities and a bar fridge, a fireplace, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
  • Self-Catering Cottage: This cottage features two bedrooms, each with two three-quarter beds and private bathrooms. A well-equipped small kitchen caters to self-catering needs, complemented by a comfortable lounge area. Guests can enjoy outdoor braais and have access to their own private plunge pool.

Facilities and Dining:

A short, lantern-lit trail from the Lapa Cottages leads to the communal seating, bar, and dining areas. Delicious meals are served here, accompanied by roaring log fires and a selection of fine South African wines, spirits, beers, and soft drinks (available for individual purchase). A boma provides a magical setting for stargazing and storytelling, while the built-in braai fosters a communal atmosphere for gatherings and shared cooking experiences. Internet, books, music, and games are available for guests' enjoyment. A lovely salt-water infinity pool with sun loungers provides a relaxing space to cool off and soak in the Karoo sun.

Access and Transportation:

For guests with 4x4 vehicles who wish to drive themselves to the accommodation, covered carports are conveniently provided. All other guests are transported to the reserve via one of Glen Harry's game viewers, adding to the safari experience from the moment of arrival.
